This page lists the tasks for the Thunar 1.0 development, check the Jobs page if you would like to contribute to Thunar.

The first step for every software project. Quite a lot of research in the area of file managers was already done, and the results are collected in this Wiki.

Develop a good and intuitive user interface for Thunar.

Develop a stable and easy to maintain design for the overall project, that can be implemented later on. Target framework is GObject/GTK+.

Implement the overall design, target language is C (for portability reasons).

Translate the project to different languages.

Basic quality management tasks, like reviewing the user interface design, the project design, the implementation and the translations.

This includes testing by real life users.

Create a release plan and make sure that things will be ready for D-Day. An approximate schedule is available for Thunar 1.0.
